To qualify, applicants must be South African citizens, residents, or special permit holders and must not receive other government support like UIF benefits or NSFAS bursaries. Their bank accounts must have a balance below R624.
Sassa conducts thorough background checks to verify applicants’ identities, citizenship, and income. Once approved, payments are made at the end of the month.
